Intercollegiate Women's Studies and The Writing Program of Scripps College has partnered with the Women of Crossroads on this dynamic expression of creativity and innovation within the arts of cooking and demonstration of survival skills in the multidimensional environment of prison life.

In "Stinging for Their Suppers," the reader is presented an abundance of resources, information and descriptions for sharing in the experience of the storytellers, with an invitation to learn about their culture. As a collaborative effort of women who have served in California prisons and those who advocate for them, "Stinging for Their Suppers" is a collection of testimonies, recipes, poetic motivational expressions, activism resources and a glossary of prison terminology engulfed in a strong support system of love that is inspiring to the authors and readers alike. The comedic tone of the recipes and stories given create an enjoyable journey for the reader and evoke interest in the advocating for human nourishment in the prison system.

House of Ruth, a local comprehensive domestic violence center, will be hosting a volunteer training soon and is looking for individuals with a commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence.
